Child Advocacy Center
All proceeds will be directly donated to the Child Advocacy Center located right here in Gainesville.
The Child Advocacy Center, Inc. (CAC) provides a child-friendly facility for children and their families during child abuse investigations. By using a compassionate and collaborative approach, the CAC helps to facilitate healing and safety by giving children a safe place to talk about what happened to them, a multidisciplinary team of professionals to investigate their case, and advocates and therapists to help them with critical life-saving services for their family. The CAC provides ongoing advocacy and therapy services for children as long as they need them at no charge to the families. Consultation and training about child abuse identification and prevention are also available for the community. In 2023, the CAC served 3,784 children and caregivers, 2,163 of whom were child victims. Of these child victims served, 56 were victims of child sex trafficking, 786 were physical abuse cases, 1,012 were sexual abuse cases and 167 required a specialized forensic interview. There were 4,991 therapy sessions, as well as 19,218 victim advocate services provided.
The mission of the CAC is to break the cycle of child abuse in Alachua County, and you are helping fulfill that mission by being part of Oakmont's .4k Slacker Run!
